Wizard's Shadow, and every other book I have by Susan Dexter, is exactly what I love best in a book: intelligent, funny, wonderful characters in a beautifully created setting involved in fascinating situations. I made guesses about what was going on - guessed wrong - didn't care, because I was enjoying the book too much. Fantasy writer Susan Dexter is known for her Winter Kings War trilogy, known today as Wizard's Destiny. Susan Dexter writes fantasy novels and has won various awards for her books, including Books for the Teen Age () for The Wizard's Shadow. She was born in Greenville, Pennsylvania. Throughout her life she has worked as a librarian, teacher. Dexter (The Winter King's War) offers here a largely predictable tale that is not much energized by its major device: Crocken, a simple peddler, has his own shadow replaced with that of a powerful wizard seeking revenge for his own murder.
